93 Percent Bitch

One of the highlights of my life was the layover I had in Dallas last year. I text messaged nearly everyone I knew to describe the phenomenon I was witnessing — obesity at its finest. I’m from California so the sheer number of fat people really threw me for a loop. I experienced a truly happy moment in that airport. Probably because I get an endorphin rush whenever I feel skinny and superior. Unfortunately, a friend of mine who grew up in Fort Worth, recently went back to visit his parents and experienced the opposite reaction. Last week he Tweeted:

“Obese kids are fucking depressing. Yes, I’m in Texas.”

I don’t blame my friend for feeling sad over the fate of these kids. Fat children don’t make me happy. I only gloat over fat adults.

omg – i lived in the US for a few years in the late 90’s as a wretched backpacker and i still remember my ‘texas tour’ vividly.

i’ll never forget how when in hollywood ca where i lived, i was considered a bit of a chunker (i was 110 pounds but only 5′ 1″) then a mere few days later whilst playing the tourist in texas (san antonio, dallas and houston) i was constantly hassled by fat arseholes saying things like ‘gitcha bony be-hind into micky d’s and git some meat on those bones’

for God’s sake.

on a more serious note, obese children make me want to cry. it’s child abuse and it isn’t ok.

fat kids are depressing, mostly because they are harder to shove out the door

Funny, I’m from Cali too, around the Hills, and I’m in Texas with some family for a while here near Fort Worth too.

She isn’t kidding guys
There are people the size of little houses.

I like to assume the parents of fat kids are also fat because nothing pisses me off more than seeing athletic parents with fat children. It makes me wonder, do they not love them enough to include them in a healthy lifestyle?

Overweight children are sad and most of the time its their ignorant parents. Unfortunately, my kids have the opposite problem. They both inherited their father’s metabolism and have never been in a normal weight range. They’re both healthy, just very thin. The worst part is when people see us as a family, they look at me with eyes that say “well, they definitely don’t get that from you”. Sometimes my urge to be thin stems from my desire to fit in with my unusually thin husband and children.
